Other Campbells

This writing had dealt wholly with the immediate family of David Campbell, the Scottish immigrant, who spent many years in Syracuse, N.Y. But there are other Campbell members that left Scotland for the new country. You have noticed, in the family tree, that David Campbell had four brothers and a sister. At least two of the brother and then sister left Scotland for the Americas. To the best of our knowledge, George Campbell immigrated to Canada. He had a son named George who was a fighter pilot, during the Second World War, either for England or Canada.

George had several children. In addition to the son mentioned above, there were also daughter Bettie and son Archie.  Bettie married a man by the last name of Scheyer. Both Bettie and Archie and their families lived in Wooster, Massachusetts.

There was a cousin by the name of Alexander Bannerman though better known as Sandy. He was in his early seventies in the forties and died in the late forties or early fifties. A machinist by training, he never married.  But he did go to the Klondike during the gold strike there in the late nineteen hundreds. In his later years, he lived in Syracuse at the YMCA until his death. He was a member of Clan Douglas, the Scottish clan in Syracuse.

Another cousin was Alistair Campbell who was born in Scotland. We don't know which brother was his father. But Alistair was sent to Syracuse to stay with his uncle David (our bellwether) because he was a trouble maker and it was felt that David Campbell could control him. He lived in and around Syracuse all of his life. He was married to Thelma who was native of Baldwinsville, N.Y. and there were two children, Marlene and Donald. Alister worked, for most of his life, at the Crucible Steel plant in Syracuse. Donald, at this stage in life, is at least seventy five years old. He was a troublemaker and spent some time in reform school before he turned eighteen. At last knowledge, some fifty years ago, he was a car salesman in a city that overlooked the Hudson River.

There may be more Campbells that are related to our family. If any one is aware, please enter that information.
